As part of your hearing aid evaluation, we perform a series of tests to assess your hearing so that we can match you with the best hearing aids for your lifestyle. When you are fit with your new hearing aids, we utilize the SER™ Fitting System to help you hear how your new aids will perform in a real-world environment. This helps us program your hearing aids to their optimal performance before you leave the clinic. (This service is only located in our Macedonia office.)
Comprehensive Diagnostic Hearing Evaluation
This test involves listening and responding to a series of low & high frequency tones through air conduction and bone conduction to determine the type and severity of your hearing loss. Then, you will be given a list of words to repeat at a most comfortable level (MCL). These results will help us determine your ability to understand speech, and if hearing aids will help you.
Otoacoustic Emission Testing (OAEs)
An otoacoustic emission test (OAE) measures an acoustic response that is produced by the inner ear (cochlea), which in essence bounces back out of the ear in response to a sound stimulus.
Tympanometry
Tympanometry is an examination used to test the condition of the middle ear and mobility of the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the conduction bones, by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal.
Diagnostic Audiologic Evaluations
The audiometric evaluation consists of pure tone air and bone conduction testing. Testing pure tones is done to determine the degree of hearing loss and whether hearing loss is conductive or sensorineural.
Hearing Aid Dispensing & Fitting
Our philosophy is to provide our patients with the best hearing instruments available based on several factors including lifestyle, the severity of the hearing loss, the impact of the hearing loss on communication, as well as monetary considerations. We strive to find the perfect match to help you hear well again.
Hearing Aid Maintenance and Cleaning
Our staff emphasizes ongoing cleaning and maintenance after your hearing aid purchase to ensure you receive optimum performance and benefit from your hearing aids. We encourage all our patients to come in for routine 6 month hearing aid check-ups and cleanings.
Repairs, Maintenance, Cleanings, and Warranties come with all brands of hearing aids. If necessary, we offer in-office repairs when possible on most makes/models based on availability.
In addition to a complete exam, we offer the following products to assist or safeguard your hearing.
Assistive Devices
When hearing aids are not enough or not appropriate we offer devices for the TV, telephone, FM classroom amplification, and sound alert devices.
Custom Earmolds
We offer custom hearing protection for people who work or play in loud noise or music, as well as industrial workers. Custom earmolds for musicians, hunters, swim molds, iPOD, hands free cell phones and in the ear monitor molds are available.
Battery Sales
With the purchase of any hearings aids from Physician Hearing Centers, you will receieve your batteries for the first three years. For those patients who are not on this Comprehensive Hearing Care plan, we always have batteries for sale in the office.
